My story

My name is Paula, I was born in 1992 in Helsinki, Finland, and I’m an abstract artist based in Oldenburg, Germany.

I am half Finnish and half Swedish, and I grew up immersed in both cultures. In 2011, I moved away from Finland, spending time in Belgium and France before eventually settling in Germany a few years later, where I’ve been living ever since.

Creativity has always been at the core of my identity. From an early age, I explored painting, writing, singing, and playing instruments, always feeling drawn to the limitless possibilities of art. Though life took me on various paths, painting has always been my constant- my way of expressing emotions and ideas that words cannot capture. A few years ago, I decided to fully embrace my passion and begin my professional career as an artist.

As an abstract expressionist painter, my work is driven by intuition. Each piece evolves naturally, guided by my imagination and emotions. I don’t follow rigid plans; instead, I embrace the freedom of the creative process, letting the colors, forms, and textures take shape as they will. This approach allows me to lose myself in my work, where time and the outside world seem to fade away.

Art, to me, is about connection. Each painting tells a part of my story, but it also invites viewers to find their own meaning within it.

My inspiration and my why’s

In a world full of rules and structure, I find solace and freedom in art’s boundless possibilities. For me, painting is a space where there is no right or wrong—only expression. The creative process is my way of processing the world, a dialogue between my inner emotions and the shapes and patterns I see in my surroundings.

Much of my work is inspired by the beauty of nature. The organic shapes and geometric patterns found in landscapes, plants, and natural textures often make their way into my paintings. My curiosity leads me to experiment, blending these influences into fluid, dynamic forms that reflect both the harmony and chaos of the world.

Guided by intuition, I usually begin each painting with a vision, a few chosen colors, and an open mind. From there, the process unfolds naturally, allowing the work to take on a life of its own. This intuitive journey often mirrors my own emotions and thoughts, making each piece deeply personal yet universally resonant.

My artworks and studio

Most of my artworks come to life in my spacious studio in Oldenburg. My studio overlooks my garden that inspires me daily. When the weather permits, I often step outside to paint, letting the fresh air and natural surroundings fuel my creativity.

Travel is another key source of inspiration for me. The colors, textures, and cultures I encounter on my journeys weave their way into my art, adding new dimensions and stories to my work. Whether painted in my studio or abroad, each piece reflects the essence of its environment.

Through abstraction, I aim to evoke emotion and spark joy in those who experience my art. Every painting is a dialogue, an invitation for the viewer to step into a world of imagination and possibility.

If you’re drawn to abstract art that tells meaningful stories and invites personal reflection, I invite you to explore my work. Each painting is a part of my journey, and I’m excited to share it with you.
