My story
My name is Paula, I'm 31 years old, and I’m an abstract artist based in Oldenburg, Germany.
I am half Finnish and half Swedish, and I grew up in the beautiful landscapes of Finland, where both cultures deeply influenced my upbringing. Love brought me to Germany, where I decided to make my home, and I've been living here ever since.
Creativity has been a constant in my life since childhood—whether through painting, creative writing, singing, or playing instruments, I was always encouraged to explore my artistic side.
For a while, I felt somewhat lost, searching for my true path in life, as if something was missing.
In 2018, my love for animals inspired me to start my first business as a dog walker, offering pack walks until the end of 2023. While it was a rewarding experience, it didn’t provide the deeper sense of fulfillment I longed for. I realized I still had a strong desire to explore my creativity.
A major turning point came in 2022 when I began learning photography. It became a passion I continue to pursue on the side. Yet, I often found myself wanting to take my photographs further, which eventually led me to realize that my true calling might be creating art directly on canvas.
At the start of 2023, I rediscovered my love for art and abstract painting. This creative process brought me the sense of purpose and fulfillment I had been seeking all along.
I truly love the process of painting- it’s my way of expressing emotions and ideas that words can’t capture. Each piece is a reflection of my inner world, and as much as I enjoy creating them, I realised that keeping them to myself wasn’t enough. Art is meant to be shared, to connect with others. That’s why I’m here- to share my work, my visions, and my passion with the world.
Each painting tells a part of my story, and I’m excited to share it with those who resonate with it.
My inspiration and my why’s
In a world full of rules, I find freedom in the belief that there is no right or wrong in art. This sense of creative freedom allows me to lose myself in the process, where time and the world around me seem to disappear. The way painting makes me feel is a driving force behind my work.
My pieces are mostly inspired by the shapes and patterns I notice in nature and all around me.. They combine both geometric and organic forms, reflecting the natural structures and designs I see around me… Curiosity drives much of my work, though it often tests my patience-
I see myself as an intuitive painter, guided by the journey rather than a set plan. I start with an initial idea and a few chosen colors, then my imagination kicks in and I let the process unfold, allowing the painting to evolve naturally.
My artworks and studio
My artworks are lovingly created in my spacious studio in Oldenburg, where natural light floods the space. When I glance out the window, I’m greeted by my beautiful garden and sometimes, when the weather allows it, I like to step outside and paint in the garden. This deep connection to nature is reflected in many of my pieces.
Abstraction tells a unique story to every person who encounters it. My goal with my paintings is to evoke a sense of joy in the viewer and occasionally encourage them to see things from a new perspective. Even though sometimes the title of the painting reveals a lot about how I felt while painting it, I love to let the artwork communicate on its own—what do you see? What emotions does it stir in you?
